Awakening to Spiritual Abundance

A 5 Day Meditation Retreat with Jeff Carreira

September 25th – 29th, 2019.

The Invitation

I am thrilled to invite you to a 5-day retreat at the beautiful Gymea Eco-Retreat Center in the beautiful north coast hinterland of NSW, Australia.

In this beautiful setting you will discover that spiritual fulfillment is not something that happens in the future because it is already here now.

Meditation is most often taught as a concentration technique such as following your breath, scanning your bodily sensations, or focusing on a mantra.

On this retreat you will discover how meditation can be simply the direct recognition of your own inherent freedom and fulfillment.

You see we have all been culturally conditioned to see ourselves as partial, incomplete, and deficient. So we assume that we must work hard to find wholeness.

At some point we might realize that in spite of all of our best efforts we are not finding the fulfillment we long for. We realize that we will not find the fullness we seek in material acquisitions or even unending personal development.

We are looking for spiritual wholeness, existential contentment and no amount of effort seems to be enough.

There are many things in life that we can achieve through hard work and diligent effort, but wholeness and spiritual fulfillment cannot be achieved this way.

If we want our lives to be full and complete, we must stop making effort long enough to discover that wholeness and contentment are already always ours.

In this five day retreat you will be guided through an experience of letting go that will bring you to an immediate recognition of spiritual wholeness.

You will discover that a great deal of our feelings of discontent and incompleteness are habits of perception that mask the true fullness of being alive. You will learn how to break the habits of discontent and discover the natural experience of fullness and wholeness that life always is.

The miracle that you discover and deepen into will change your life, relieving you of the burden of anxiety, worry and self-concern so that you can be available to engage fully with life, however it appears.

Meditation: The Practice of No Problem

On this retreat you will learn a deceptively simple and profoundly effective form of meditation. It is called The Practice of No Problem.

Practicing having of no problem means not making a problem out of anything that arises in your experience. As you become adept at this simple technique you will begin to become aware of your own inherent freedom.

You will see how your mind relentlessly creates the illusion that something is wrong. You will discover a space inside yourself which is beyond ideas of right and wrong. In this place everything just is and you can embrace all of it, even the parts you want to change.

In this wide-open space of existential acceptance layers of existential confusion, anxiety and pain will gently unravel and you will find yourself resting more and more deeply in that miraculous freedom that is always available right now.

The journey of meditation is a journey that begins at the destination. You don’t find liberation, you realize that it was always here.

On this retreat you will learn break the habits of discontent and rest your attention on the freedom that can always be found right here in the middle of the experience you’re already having.

We are taught that we need to struggle with the way things are to make things the way we want them to be, but as long as our energy is busy struggling with the way things are, we are not available for more.

A deep and abiding acceptance of the way things are is the key that liberates your spirit. Your energy is free, your attention is free, and you are available to experience things that you couldn’t imagine before. Now we are available to be lifted into higher possibilities and our life will inevitably be transformed for the better.

Journey to Spiritual Abundance

  • The Freedom of Open Awareness

Our journey will begin with a deep dive into meditation. Our awareness is almost constantly fixated on a particular range of thoughts and feelings. The first thing we will work with is relaxing our awareness and allowing it to expand beyond any specific point of focus. This kind of open awareness brings us into contact with a profoundly creative space in consciousness. In this place our attention is free and we are deeply receptive to novelty and intuition.

  • The Illumination of Perception

As our practice deepens we will begin to open our intuition and allow our minds to drift away from conventional ways of thinking and perceiving. We will enter into a process of spiritual illumination where deeper truths about the nature of reality begin to reveal themselves. We will look beneath the surface of things and discover that a great deal of what we think of as unalterable reality are actually habits of perception shaped by unconscious assumptions and social agreements.

  • The Source of Consciousness

Once we have tasted the open awareness of deep meditation and learned to relax and abide there, we will begin to guide our awareness into uncharted territories by questioning some of our most foundational assumptions about who we are and how reality works. We’ve been conditioned to see ourselves as individual separately conscious beings whose awareness radiates from inside us. We will challenge this identity by questioning what the source of consciousness actually is. The discovery of this sacred source of awareness is the revelation that spiritual traditions the world over have called enlightenment, self-actualization and God-realization.

  • Living From Spiritual Abundance

As we let go of the limits of our separate and isolated sense of self we experience a profound release into wholeness and completion. We discover that we live in the midst of unimaginable abundance. In spite of life’s challenges everything we need is already within us. This retreat is an invitation to enter into, or move more deeply into, some of the most profound possibilities of human existence. When we discover the ever-present contentment that is always inside us we also discover what human life can look like when it is lived from the reality of abundance rather than an assumption of deficiency.
